Rivers / Northeast Lower Peninsula
Pigeon River (Pigeon River Country)
A cold, high-gradient Tip-of-the-Mitt river with browns and rainbows and brook trout in the headwaters; the 2015 dam removal cooled it further. It has plenty of smaller mayflies, caddis and even Tricos most mornings in mid-to-late August, but not the big-bug hatches like drakes and Hex. Fall brings hoppers, beetles and flying ants. Trails to Trout says to add one to two weeks to northern-river dates here.

Eggs in the drift
In February no eggs are in the drift here. Next up: white and longnose sucker eggs. Spawning follows water temperature rather than the hatch offset, so these months do not shift.
